A New York artist painted a beautiful portrait of Swami in honor of Sai Baba’s 60th birthday, using gold paints to heighten the effect. During the celebration, he was disappointed when told that he couldn’t personally give the picture to Swami at that time because Swami was busy. The picture would be placed in storage until an unspecified future date.

About two years later, the painter returned. Aer a few days, while siing on the porch of the temple, he was surprised to see Swami appear at the door of the temple and motion him inside. There, propped up on a chair, was his picture in its original wrappings. Sai Baba unwrapped it, revealing the beautiful portrait done in gold paints. The painter had set the painting in a strong wooden frame and had sealed the back with a protective wooden piece, firmly locking in the picture. A glass covering protected the face of the picture.
