my understanding a word! What is real? Who is real? It was obvious that Swami was the master creator of this event, so it is Swami (who represents our transcendental Self beyond body, the oneness beyond the many) that is real. Swami tells us that he is none other than the divinity that dwells in our own hearts. So it is our divine heart that is fundamentally real.
We must look within to find our own power and glory: our love. We will not find it by directing aention outward. Love, peace, and power reside in the inner self. “The proper study of mankind is man,” says Swami, and before turning our vision elsewhere, we should look within and ask the question, “Who am I?”
How can you aain peace? Where is peace? Having an atom bomb in hand, people give lectures on the need for peace. Such people can reach the moon but they never aain peace and happiness. There is no need to search for peace in the external world. All that you get in the external world is restlessness. Peace is within you. It is your form. Manifest it from within.
Embodiments of love! There is no power greater than the power of love. You can aain peace by cultivating love. Peace is your birthright. Worldly peace is no peace at all. Inner peace alone is pure, unsullied, eternal, and immortal. (SSB)
The main focus of Swami’s teachings and of this book is the nature and practice of a love that transforms us into God and the obstacles we must overcome to find this pure love within ourselves. Swami tells us that the mind is the key; it is both our strength and our weakness. He teaches us how to transcend the mind and find union with God.
