Counselling Connections Across Australia
From the Editors
Lyndy Burt
I am proud to once again take a part in
editing Counselling Connections Across
Australia. As I reflect on this edition and
the wide range and nature of the articles
submitted, I am struck by the thought
that this very eclectic, yet integrated,
approach present in this edition reflects Maureen Ireland
a word picture of what counselling is.
As counsellors we draw on a broad and I have been a Relationship Counsellor
diverse range of approaches to meet the since the mid 80’s working in Hong Kong
varying concerns and goals of our clients. and Melbourne. Over the course of this
time I have served on CCAA Victorian and
National teams in many roles and feel it
is a privilege to be serving on the Journal
Editorial Committee. I am excited to be
a part of the team that is reaching out to
other Christian institutions to encourage
them to join with us to promote our
Dominie Nelson shared values and understanding of
how our faith can be integrated in our
Previous editor of the Counselling Counselling practise.
Connections Across Australia, Dominie’s
enthusiasm for the journal finds source
and impetus in her love of the potential
that’s released when belief in people and
expression of ideas and opinions take
form in print. In this edition, the pen is
indeed mightier than the sword. A free
spirit with a love of diversity, change Ian Parkin
and making a difference, Dominie’s
other (current) enthusiasms include Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
dancing, walking in nature, and playing
with her (currently 5) lively and loving Our journal for this year has been
grandchildren, along with a professional developed by an editorial team. This team
interest in supervision, mentoring and consists of Lyndy Burt from Tasmania,
seeing the best in others. Dominie Nelson from South Australia,
Maureen Ireland from Victoria and Ian
Parkin from New South Wales. After
reflection on a common theme for
this eclectic set of articles one word
came to mind - GRACE. God forms us
into a Relationship with Him and with
each other. Through our Attachment
needs being met we learn to Counsel
with, it is hoped, greater Empathy and
understanding. I hope you find some
grace in this latest journal edition.
May the peace of Jesus go with you.
