DCICAI MEMBER CONQUERS TOP
OF THE WORLD
CA Abdul Nassar, member of Doha Chapter of ICAI and working as a Senior Officer at Qatar Petroleum
recently reached the summit of Mount Everest, becoming one of the few people on the planets to overcome
great odds and achieve this amazing feat.
Abdul Nassar’s life story is all about overcoming obstacles and challenges through hard work and sheer
determination. Born into abject poverty in Palakkad, Kerala, in southern India, he spent a part of his childhood
in an orphanage to ease his parent’s financial burden. It was during his stay there when he realized that he
would only be able to break free from the shackles of poverty through excellence in education.
Putting all his energy in his studies, Abdul Nassar obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree with
distinction in 1996, he was the college toper and 6th rank holder of Calicut university. After which he went
on to complete his Chartered Accountancy course in 2000. He subsequently worked with the Indian Oil
Corporation and Cairns Energy in India, SABIC in Saudi Arabia, and then Tasweeq before eventually joining
QP as a result of the integration in 2016.
One of the first things he did on the top of the world was to unfurl the two flags of India and Qatar to show his
appreciation to both the countries for the contribution in changing his life for the better. Abdul Nassar hopes
that his life story would serve as an inspiration to others. He has written about his life in his book entitled
“The Road Less Travelled,” and he is also a motivational speaker, sharing his story to young students and
encouraging them to finish their education as first step to be successful in life. He is married and father of
three daughters.
