The Meagan Bebenek Foundation has been instrumental in
supporting research projects at the BTRC which have spawned
successful multi-year grant applications which have led to new
and important discoveries in paediatric brain tumour research.

Amidst the scientific sessions, attendees
enjoyed opportunities for relaxation and
team-building through invigorating hikes in the
Canadian wilderness and savouring delicious
Northern Canadian cuisine. The stunning
natural panorama, vibrant with emerging
fall colours, provided an idyllic backdrop
for informal discussions, fostering deeper
connections and renewed enthusiasm.
Therapeutic Stratification of Glioblastoma,”
provided groundbreaking insights into
personalized approaches for one of the most
aggressive brain cancers, highlighting novel
genetic discoveries and therapeutic potentials.
Overall, the 2023 BTRC Scientific Retreat
was a resounding success, blending rigorous
scientific discourse with moments of reflection,
inspiration, and community-building, ultimately
reinforcing our collective dedication to
improving outcomes for brain tumour patients.
An unexpected highlight of the retreat was a
surprise address from Dr. Eric Bouffet, who,
at the onset of his retirement, captivated
attendees with stories and reflections from
his extensive clinical career in paediatric
neuro-oncology. His inspirational global
perspective reminded everyone of the
broader impact and importance of their
daily research efforts.
