How did you find your Irish experience? What was your most memorable moment?
My Irish experience was absolutely everything I hoped it would be! Beautiful weather, surrounded by beautiful people and lush landscapes listening to our favourite music in the world, what could be better? Highlight for me was getting to play out a few of my favourite tracks in front of an Irish crowd for the first time! I’ve known how mad they are for years, and I was dying to see it myself on their home turf.
Tell us something we don’t know about you. When/Where did your musical journey begin?
Something you don't know about me... I have a group of kids at an orphanage in Uganda I help sponsor. My friend Peter is in charge of the orphanage, and anyone who feels they might like to help, please don’t hesitate to contact me! We send everything to them directly, and not through a third party, so I can promise it will actually get to them!
I started my musical journey as a kid playing First Chair clarinet and teaching myself a little guitar, but found my love for Trance at Cream Ibiza in 2012. That’s where I was exposed to a whole new world of sound that I had never dreamed of hearing before. When I came back to the states, all the music I previously loved just didn't sound the same anymore. I missed the throbbing bass of the kick drum, and the energy of the crowd. After I got a bit educated, I got sick of having to skim through YouTube videos and started mixing at home! Haven't looked back since.
Who were your main musical influences growing up? Who are you following today?
Two major influences for me growing up were Eminem and Linkin Park. Both of them really showed me that you can be unique in what you do and still be successful. They showed me following a trend isn't always the best way, and sometimes just being yourself is the best thing. This will never be a competition for me the way it is for others. I just love playing tunes with my friends, and having a good time, that’s what it’s about for me more than anything.
Name one track you never tyer of hearing? Describe in your own words how that one track makes you feel.
One track I never get tired of hearing is Peter Plaznik & Phil Taylor - Wide Life. The tune is just absolutely unbelievable in every musical aspect. A dark ruthless tech kick with a glob of energy and powerful acids. It’s one tune I probably will never not play, I just feel like I want to bang my head into a wall for six straight minutes when I listen to that track haha!
Basing your answer on your Irish experience, can you compare differences between Irish clubbers and American clubbers?
Louder, madder, and more educated. Everyone dancing to the soundtrack for the evening just having a good time, not getting so caught up in exactly what DJ is playing what, where group pictures are, or how close you are to the DJ, etc. The Irish in one word, Passion.
Was Ireland always somewhere you desired to play?
Ireland has been on the Top of my list ever since I first saw how mad you all are on that absolutely epic Goodgreef Trance Cruise in 2015 from North Shields to Amsterdam, WHAT A BOAT. Ever since then, I've been dying to get a glimpse of this glory first hand.
Can you give us a brief re-cap on your music production history?
Production for me in the past has been very minimal. I only just started taking production seriously again, as the last few years I’ve been just letting it all go in Ibiza haha! No Regrets!
What kind of material are you working on today? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
There are loads of producers doing tons of serious stuff at the moment. I’d like to think my music is more along the fun route, with a banging twist. I’m experimenting a lot with disco sounds for example, and will have some disco inspired remixes heading out in the next year hopefully.
Define Trance in your own words.
Trance is our escape from the regular life. It's a spiritual and organized group of sounds and experiences built on the backs of those passionate enough to care. It's a family of people from all over the world, who come together at special gatherings, and, for a little while at least, create a harmonic fusion of energy and love through dance and art. I love this music and this scene very much, and I could never repay all of you who have done so much for me.
Keep a real close eye on this fella, it may have been the first time we’ve seen him, but it won’t be the last!
