Groove Cruise LA 2017
Groove Cruise LA 2017
'm lucky to be writing this review since sound won’t come out of my voice right now. I can finally say I lost my voice at sea on Groove Cruise. I felt like I was a kid again boarding onto this massive ship that was going to be my
e for the next few days. I was a virgin to any type of cruise so just trying to picture myself at a normal one after this weekend is impossible. The moment you board you hear the deep house music set the tone for everyone to settle in and make themselves comfortable with the ship. There is no such thing as quiet on the boat. Everyone is screaming to be set free into the ocean with no care of what the future might hold. That’s the best part about sailing off into the ocean with music, strangers, and terrible cell phone service, you have to actually interact with your surroundings. If you’re going on Groove Cruise plan to take yourself off the grid for a few days because it’s going to be a wavy ride with your new family.
JASON BEUKEMA
You will hear the name Jason multiple times on the boat. If you’re wondering who’s voice that is on the intercom every morning, it’s the founder of Groove Cruise. On our media brunch with Jason he briefly told us how he managed to start throwing parties on massive cruises. He dove straight into his visions in trying to bridge the gap between nightlife music and cruises 13 years ago after attending cruises with his family and friends. Bored with them after so many, he charted his first Groove Cruise with only 150 people. Jason now charters the craziest sailing festival filled with thousands of party animals.
GROOVE CRUISE FAMILY
I’ve been in a rave family but being apart of GCFamily taught me new lessons that I never would of experienced on actual land. The fact that you’re on a boat makes everything that you do more intimate with the people you’re surrounded with.
Whether you’ve attended every festival known, there is no way to prepare for what awaits for you on Groove Cruise. To be apart of GC Fam is to be able to interact with each other the ship on a intimate level that goes deeper than music. There’s no other festival that brings you on a boat face to face with your favorite
artists. I was lucky to have dinner with Convex and tequila shots in Mexico with Scotty Boy. Even artists have to stay on the ship, so taking shots with one is highly possible. This is why Groove Cruise ranks best the experience by far from any music festival that I’ve been to. Jason and his team really put in a lot of work and dedication into their intention of creating a family bond that will last a life time after leaving the ship .
GROOVE CRUISE GIVES
Not only does Jason focus on trying to make this crazy cruise possible but he also inspires others to give with the Whet Foundation and Destination Donation. I was very blessed to volunteer with Neon Owl and Destination Donation in bringing school supplies and clothes to children in Ensenada, Mexico. While the sound check was going on in the back I decided to teach the kids how to dance. To feel the excitement of these young children eager to learn how to dance was definitely the highlight of my trip. We also brought the kids to the mansion and ate tacos before all the ship mates were let in to destroy it. All the kids were filled with joy when we handed them backpacks with school supplies. I never would of thought a party cruise would lead me to a rooftop party where I got the chance to meet and teach kids how to dance. I wish all of their team the best of luck for making the effort into making a difference in trying to throw shade off from the stigma that dance festivals have. I feel like if we make it a point to show kids how to express them selves through dance rather than drugs we can create a safer environment for dance music festivals.
ACTIVITIES
Back to the boat now, there is no way possible to describe in words everything that happened on the boat. The thought of all the activities that happened on the ship makes me anxious! I felt like I was always going to miss out on all the fun activities that were all happening at the same time. I was running deck to deck endlessly through the whole trip. There’s too much to do on this ship and so many people to meet to make anytime for sleep. How can you miss out on tequila tasting, champagne beer pong, or the festival fashion show. Whet Travel makes it really easy for you to get your fam together for some wild activities. The comedy show with Ben Hague was ridiculous on Saturday.
