Pavel Ludin – Soho EP [ Quality Vibe Records] [Deep House]
Based in St Petersburg, Pavel Ludin has delivered a glorious 4 track EP packed with original material, on Quality Vibe records. Opener “Continental” is a luscious deep house soundscape, with rolling beats and a recurring pad line that gets under your skin. Filtered spoken vocals, awash with reverb give the track atmosphere, and percussion is scattered over the top. “Voyager” is more dancefloor focused, with slightly heavier drums but still keeping with the theme of “Continental” with the filtered and delayed synths washing over everything creating a blissfull journey. Next up title track “Soho” is a delicate number with a twinkling lead line and pads giving an air of vulnerability before the drums kick in and we are taken away to a higher place. Finally “Flow” rounds things off and does exactly as the title suggests. Rolling hi hats and a recurring chord bassline keep things rolling along whilst the the pads are brought in gradually to build up the tension before being released.

Various Artists – Deccenium 1.1 [Affin LTD] [House & Techno]
To celebrate the their tenth anniversary, Affin LTD have pulled out all the stops, with 4 absolute blinders. First up Toki Fuko has “The signal”, a droning deep tech number, with throbbing bass, shuffling percussion. The recurring metallic percussion is the main theme for the track, and although repetitive, is the cohesion of the track. Next, “Shadowfuse” by Arnaud Le Texier is an appresive deep techno number with choral vocals laced with reverb over the top of industrial drums, and crunching bass.
“Mysticalturn” by Cliché Morph is all about the acid vibes, with a distinctly trippy feel to it, with a squelchy bassline and pads layed over the top and shuffling drums. Finally, and pick of the bunch for me, Svarog brings the rolling deep sound with “Warm places” droning bass and crunching synths sit perfectly over the top of clicking drums and minimal percussion. Great selection. https://www.deejay.de/Various_Decennium_11_AFFIN037LTD_Vinyl__277074
Michal Jablonski – Chimaera [Secret Keywords] [Techno]
Deep techno is the order of the day with this great EP from Michal Jablonski. From the off, the intro track “In without” leads you in, with a gorgeous soundscape of ethereal pads and effects. Then you are hit with the rolling techno of “Left object”. A masterful lesson in minimal melodic techno. With the rolling hihats and offbeat claps coupled with the soaring pads, it’s a proper journey. Next up is title track “Chimaera” a brooding, dark track, full of oppressive synths and dark stabs before the piercing main riff kicks in. On the remix we have YYYY and AWB, who both put their trademark sounds on “Chimera” and “Left object” respectively. Great EP.

Michael McLardy & Moonlit Vision – Third Mind EP [LeftWing Reordings] [House]
LeftWing Recordings label boss Michael McLardy teams up with Newcastle’s Moonlit Vision. It’s a great pairing, and a perfect late summer soundtrack. First up title track “Third mind” is all about the ethereal pads and synths, drenched in reverb and effects. The drums are solid deep house, with minimal percussion, and a what sounds like a vocal is gently layered over the top.
“Pilot” is again another great deep house affair, with rolling shuffling drums and progressive chords giving the track its basis, before the pads come in in the break and the wonderful lead lines are brought in. Great atmosphere and perfect for a very late night or an early morning affair. Finally, the pair remix “Pilot” and give it a bit more of a house feel, focusing on the melody and the pads whilst toughening up the drums somewhat. Nice all round release.

Low Orbit Satellite/Heavenchord – Unconscious Minds Club [MixCult Records] [House & Techno]
Low Orbit Satellite kick things off on this great 2 track release from MixCult records. Title track “Unconscious mind club” is an acid driven house number, with a bubbling 303 style bassline and sultry pads washing over the top. The drums are minimal and a bit techy, which will help it fit into a more varied amount of dj’s record bags, as it’s a great crossover track. Secondly Heavenchord bring his unique style to the table with a jazzy chord line and shuffling drums on “For old friends”. As the repeated stabbing synth line is introduced the energy rises and eventually this takes over and turns it into a driving minimal tech track. Really nice stuff. https://www.deejay.de/Low_Orbit_Satellite_Heavenchord_Unconscious_Minds_Club_MCRV003_Vinyl__273817
