TECHNO & HARD TECHNO / louk \\ TUNES
Missing Channel - Onslaught (FJAAK Remix) [FJAAK]
The German trio make an unmistakable return with this fierce reworking of 1991's 'Onslaught'. Kickstarting Robert Hood's 'Hardwax' imprint, Missing Channel (Hood & Claude Young) made quite an impression with the rave anthem. FJAAK have gracefully kept the roots of what made the original so special, added one monster of a kick drum and their own vibe to it which works exceptionally well. I think this is vinyl only so search far and wide for this absolute belter!

Thomas P Heckmann - Body Music [Monnom Black]
Dax J's Monnom Black continue unleashing sought after techno monsters with this fourteen track behemoth of an album from Germany's Thomas P Heckmann. A man who should need no introduction, but those of you living under a rock he was behind Silent Breed, Drax and the awesome AFU label. Here on 'Body Music' the quality is second to none, with all forms of techno and EBM included. 'Bodywrap', 'Hardbeatfunk' and 'Bloody Vacant' (which surfaced first on Kobayashi last year) stand out here! Sublime.

Troy - Algol [Klockworks]
Following on from his first appearance on Klockworks as part of the 20th release, Holland's Troy returns with a dynamic four tracker. Title track 'Algol' meanders nicely with some pads and percussion that builds, while 'Aramis' is a more sinister by nature. On the flip we are treated to the quirky 'Redshift' that plays with some gorgeous loops and a huge kick drum, while the EP concludes with the more experimental 'Ceres'.

Kevin De Vries - Aurora [We Are The Brave]
I've been a big fan of Kevin's tunes for quite some years now, with harder cuts on Complexed, Drumcode and a few other notable labels, here he makes his debut for Alan Fitzpatrick's We Are The Brave label with two tracks that definitely have the big rooms in mind. Title cut Aurora is a synth laden track that takes you back to the sunkissed Mediterranean islands, while 'Nemesis' is a little tougher but again has some decent synths for those who like it lighter.

Oliver Way - Lucky Dip (Remixes) [EPM]
EPM legend Oliver has enlisted the production help of some very fine names to remix his 'Lucky Dip' number. With an impressive array of talent that boasts Scan X, Ben Long and two mixes from Ben Sims (one as Barrow Boy), we are spoilt for choice. If forced to pick I think Barrow Boy's old school tinged reworking edges it, though Sims' own cut is as meticulous yet funky as you would expect from such a legend. Awesome stuff!

Stigmata - Paraspectral [Modular Source]
Andre Walter's Stigmata project is resurrected after 2012's awesome 'Invest' on Nachtstrom Schallplatten. I am still caining the Stigmata Loops vinyls where there are locked grooves of some of their harder earlier works. On 'Paraspectral' the quality is still very high, with some seriously frenetic darker numbers that you know are going to do damage in festival season! Cuts of choice have to be the EBM laced 'No Heaven' and title track 'Paraspectral'.

J-T Kyrke - Caustic [Applied Rhythm Technologies (ART)]
I've been hammering J-T Kyrke's productions for years. The Birmingham legend has nailed the style of techno that has become so famous in his home city on this EP for Kirk Degiorgio's Applied Rhythm Technologies label. The PR for this hails each track on this release as a 'fail safe banger' and who am I to argue? Favourites here have to be 'Sinister Presence' and title track 'Caustic', not for the faint hearted but guaranteed to cause damage!
