chest when she was hungry and how she was now taking the bottle after some persuading, his face glowing with pride as he gushed about his precious baby girl.
I had only a few days to go before my due date and I was feeling very tired and anxious for the pregnancy to be over. The barn was nearly complete with just a little decoration in the main room and then we could move in. We just had to give it a couple of days after painting for the paint fumes to expel thoroughly.
We made the decision that we would rent out the cottage as a holiday home once we had moved into the barn, I loved it so much I couldn’t sell it there were too many happy memories and I wasn’t ready to let go completely.
When we arrived back to the cottage there were numerous voice messages. A couple from the solicitor looking for Rex about his inheritance, one from Sherry sounding cheerful but asking for me to ring her urgently, it was a number I didn’t recognize, and a few from the painting crew about the barn. As Rex prepared supper I called Sherry.
‘Hi Sherry, how are you’?
‘Hi Amber I’m doing great’, she certainly sounded like she was, and it was nice to hear it. After some catching up she got to the real reason she was calling, ‘I’m still with my friend here in the south of Ireland and although she wants me to stay I really wanted a fresh start. Far away from Ireland’, I heard the change in her tone, ‘I was thinking of coming your way. Just a little early for the wedding’, she was being cautious.
‘Has anything being sorted with Brian’? I asked her, ‘does he know where you are’?
