While I prepared for work I made up my mind I would definitely speak to Penny today about giving up the job in the bar. I’d give her a month’s notice that would bring us up to the time when Paul is due back and time enough to organize going home for Sherry’s wedding.
My phone call to Sherry was briefer than I would have liked but she was so busy. I told her I would drive back for the wedding. She told me to bring a friend for company.
I was surprised to see Rex and Jenny deep in conversation. Rex had his arm around her shoulder. Jenny was looking into his eyes. I hurried by, barley looking in their direction.
Good evening Amber! They both chimed.
‘Good evening’! I replied as I hurried along.
I didn’t get a chance to speak to Penny until closing. Jenny did not appear in and Rex was his cheerful self. He didn’t seem to notice that I was a little cool with him all evening.
‘Amber are you still feeling under the weather‘, Penny asked as we had our usual nightcap.
‘Penny I have decided to give up the bar work as soon as Paul comes home‘, I said nervously.
‘Oh Amber! I hate to lose you, but if you are finding it too hard fitting in your other projects, I understand’.
‘I was thinking of running a class as soon as term begins in September for beginners, I’m going to ask Mr. Hayes if I can rent a room in the school at the start of next term’.
