‘What a good idea! Penny smiled and continued to say that Jenny was looking for extra hours. ‘I hope I didn’t look as sick as I felt at the mention of Jenny working extra hours with Rex’.
What a good idea I managed to say before escaping out on the floor to clear the tables. I did not want Penny to see my anxious face. I wondered if Rex had anything to do with Jenny wanting to do extra hours. After all they seem to have made it up. She is not behind the door in showing her feelings for him. After all she is nearer his age. He probably thinks of me as his older sister. He is only twenty – three I’m nearly ten years older than him.
‘Too old’, pull yourself together Amber I told myself.
‘All locked up, Good night ladies’, Rex called as he climbed the stairs.
‘Good news Amber our guests left this morning – have a lay in. Good night! switch out the lights on your way up’.
‘Good night Penny’! I proceeded to do her bid.
Rex changed the barrels as I opened the bar. Penny had her lay in until noon As I served the regulars their request for hair of the dog; Rex informed me that Mr. Harris wanted to see him on Monday.
‘I have to go into the Gallery on Monday would you like a lift’, I offered.
‘I would love to travel with you, whenever you are ready I’ll be waiting’, Rex replied with his usual charm.
Saturday was a good day. I for one enjoyed it, work and all. ‘Why do I feel so good around Rex’? I ask myself as I pull into my drive. I sat for a while admiring the view and watched the sun go down over the open fields disappearing behind my beautiful cottage waiting to be wakened by my presents I love my life here I never want it to
