Any gigs coming up?
As it is at the moment, think I will be difficult the next few weeks and months doing any gigs, but once we are over this period and things get back to normality, I am in talks about possibly doing Progress:On again locally in Newcastle, there is a great developing scene happening again in the North East of the UK. In talks about a South America Tour later in 2020, that is an exciting prospect and a few other prospects I am in discussions with, lets see how 2020 unfolds, but very excited about what is in the future at the moment.
Importance of ADe & Wmc for you?
I have to admit I have not been before, but both are certainly on my radar to get there soon. The Progressive/Melodic scene in general is a great community, ADE for me is really important for all these great Producers & DJ’s that you talk with regularly all come together and meet, have seen some amazing work coming from discussion had at these events. WMC - Miami is like Mekka for me, need to save some serious pennies to get there, but I hope to get there sooner rather than later.
Both Events are great opportunities for the communities Producers, DJ’s, Promoters and Music Lovers to come together, I think anything that can do that is surely a good thing.
Equipment & your writing process?
Equipment Wise, is fairly basic, a Decent Soundcard, Monitors, Headphones, Midi Keyboard & Trusty Maschine. For the writing process, for Remixes that I do, the Inspiration is in the Original Track, when you listen, you instantly start to get ideas and visions of what you want to create and that usually flows naturally and when playing with the Original Artists Samples, I usually stumble on a few “Happy Mistakes” that I utilise with the Remix. For Original Work, I have found I really need to be in the mood and feeling it before I start to put things down. I have found more recently that I will start a project and developing it and then a request comes through, I jump on that and then start something else new - After a while I will return to the one I started weeks ago and just sparks that same feeling of Inspiration and that usually spurs me forward to complete it (Unless another Remix Request comes through the Inbox).
Current scene in Ireland & North East UK?
Its really interesting times, you have some great nights that have been the bedrock of these scene over the years like RiffRaff in Middlesbrough, Digital in Newcastle, the guys at Totem Events are doing some great things at the Middelesbrough Empire. Then you have this scene bubbling away in Newcastle that is now gaining allot of traction, Naz & Progress:ON team are doing some great events, Adam with his 10 Step North Nights and Jonny with his House of Barefoot Events in Newcastle are all exciting and would love to see these nights really start to take off during 2020.
Progressive/Melodic where is going?
I honestly think we are in a transition phase at the moment, the one thing EDM did was to create a whole Generation of Electronic Music Lovers, although for my generation this has always been here, but there is a whole new generation coming through that want a new experience, want more than to jump up and down. Progressive & Melodic Music is about a feeling, emotion, journey, I think we are on the cusp of big change, some great Pioneer in these genres are starting to break through in a big way and think this will pave the path for very exciting times ahead for
Deeper, Progressive & Melodic Music to come sing through again.
Artists recommend?
It is a great privilege to be a Label Owner, I get to hear allot of Music from great Artists, the guys I have been most impressed with recently are Enertia-Sound, Andy Woldman, Aves Volare, Teklix, Sasheen, The Wash, Ewan Rill, Lio Q.
Names in the industry playing your tracks?
For the Labels, we have had some fantastic support from the likes of Danny Tenaglia,
Nick Warren, Manu Riga, Graham Gold, Darin Epsilon, Steve Parry, DJ Ruby, Anthony Papa, Gui Milani, Fernando Ferreyra to name just a few, but we generally get well supported from the Progressive & Melodic community.
For my own releases and remixes, I have had some great support from, Dr. Motte, Manu Riga, Andy Woldman, Praveen Achary, Fernando & Hassan Rassmy.
How does it feel to see names like of play your tracks?
Its an amazing feeling, I sometimes get Video Clips through from the DJ’s and to see and here it on Big Sound Systems, there is nothing like it!
