Judgment Enforcement – The Step-by-Step Course
How to Get Access to a Database:
Because the information they provide is more serious and more comprehensive than what
you’ll ever find on “Google” or “Intelius” or the other public databases, they have strict
requirements.
Generally, here’s what some of them want: Security
1. If you’re working out of your home (like me) they want you to
have a separate office-room. No credit reports on the kitchen counter next
to the Fruit Loops. No assignments on the coffee table next to you Better
Homes & Gardens.
2. The separate room should be lockable from the outside.
3. Shredder.
4. Password on your computer.
5. Locking filing cabinet.
6. Maybe utility bill and/or phone bill showing address
7. Some of the companies may want you to already have 2 judgments assigned to
you. Catch 22, yes? If that’s the case with a database you’re considering, you’ll need
locate at least 2 judgments and have them assigned. If I were to do that, I’d be less picky
about which 2 judgments to accept, just to get myself started.
In short, they want security. How will they know that you have complied? When you
apply, the may send someone out to your home or office to have a look.
NOTE: These requirements are always changing. Be sure to check out the latest with
he providers themselves or on the Forum
What are the Costs?
First, depending on whether you want full SSN’s or not, they’ll charge you to come out to your
home to check security. Plan on $75-$125.
The costs for searches on the databases will vary, depending on what each charges and
information you want. I can find just about anybody on TracersInfo for a $1. On TLO and
Delvepoint, it may be less. You can also search just for assets or get a comprehensive report on
someone. Again, prices will vary - $3 to $8 typically.
Here’s a little secret: Databases aren’t equal. The newer the information the more likely it is to
be a little more expensive. Still, cheaper ones are hugely better than anything for the public
online.
