right away. (Note: there are some new questions about whether we can pull credit reports.
See the Forum for the latest. And, you may not want, or need, to pull them anyway.)
You can only pull
I can’t a credit report
stress this after the judgment
enough. is in your name.
You’ll think I’m a broken record, but believe it or not, the main problem that new
Judgment Enforcers (JE’s) have is getting is too many judgments. When most JE’s start,
they take on nearly any judgment that comes their way. They are excited to have so much
business. But the result is that after a year in business they have a lot of judgments which,
for one reason or another, aren’t doable right now or ever. They usually end up re-
assigning the judgments back to the creditors. That’s a pain. A huge, huge pain.
I always follow “Method #2.” But I didn’t do that when I first started. Yes, I accepted
every judgment that came my way, too. I learned the hard way, as most others have. And
another plus to “Method #2” is that by researching the debtor first, you’ll be equipped with
lots of information about the JD, so that the creditor will be highly impressed that you
know so much when you contact him or her.
I’ll repeat: If you spend almost a whole month just screening judgments, and you get
just 4 good ones for just $5,000 each, that’s $120K you’ll take in that year.
$5,000 per judgment
X 4 a month
$20,000 a month
(half to you)
You may not make it all right away, but it will be in the pipeline, and when things start
coming out of the pipeline, you’ll be a happy boy (or girl). But what if you don’t find 4?
Take 2. Or 1. Or maybe none for this month. It’s better to keep looking than have a crummy
judgment on your desk.
