BLUE TANG
(Acanthurus coeruleus) < 37 cm / 15 in Uniformly blue with a small yellow spine at the base of the tail. Forms large schools. May lighten in shallower waters.
Surgeon sh are essential to a healthy reef ecosystem. As relentless herbivores they keep the algae levels in check and allow sunlight to reach the corals. There is safety in numbers; Blue Tang are found in large traveling schools and other surgeon sh species often join them for protection.
