Covalent Bonds: Shared Electrons
The number of electrons that are missing determines the number of pairs of electrons the atoms will share.
‘N’ has 5 electrons. It needs another 3 electrons to complete its valence shell. Therefore, it will have 3 shared pairs of electrons (which means 6 shared electrons).
