Intermolecular Bonding
INTERMOLECULAR BONDING: Bonding between two or more existing compounds.
Until now we discussed INTRAMOLECULAR BONDING (bonding within a compound):
1. Ionic bonding 2. Covalent bonding 3. Metallic bonding
Now, we will discuss INTERMOLECULAR BONDING: bonding between two or more existing compounds.
1. Dipole-dipole attraction
2. Hydrogen bond
3. Dispersion Forces 4.Molecule-ion atttraction
Intramolecular bonding: H2 and O bond to create an H2O compound. Intermolecular bonding: A few molecules of H2O bond together.
