Exothermic Reaction
EXOTHERMIC REACTION: Process that releases (gives away) heat During exothermic reactions:
1. The substance gives away energy (heat), so it becomes cooler.
2. This cooling can cause a phase change from gas to liquid or liquid to solid.
3. Chemical bonds form.
4.The surroundings become warmer because the substance gave away its heat.
In exothermic reactions, the heat exits.
