Which Heat Equation?
How do I know which of the three heat equations to use?
1. When you are given two temperatures, you need because this equation deals with change in temperature (∆T).
2. When the question discusses melting or freezing, use because this equation deals with heat of fusion. (Remember the fuse hint with the microwave and freezer.)
3. When the question discusses boiling/ vaporizing or condensing, use
because this equation deals with vaporization.
These are general guidelines, but you always need to read the question carefully to see what it is asking you.
