Depression is a disease. It isn’t just feeling pain, loss of interest in things that usually i to function as normal. There are many typ Mental Health lists the following types on
Persistent Depressive disorder. Symptoms of a depressed mood that last 2 or more years. Sometimes the person may feel more or less severely depressed but the overall symptoms must persist for 2 years.
Postpartum Depression (PPD). Typically diagnosed within a few weeks of delivering a baby. Women with PPD have severe depression with feelings of extreme sadness, exhaustion and sometimes psychosis. PPD impedes the ability to care for a newborn baby and even sometimes themselves.
Psychotic Depression. Severe depression
in addition to a form of psychosis. Psychotic symptoms include hallucinations, delusions or hearing and seeing things that are not real.
