Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). When there is less sunlight in each day, typically
in the winter months depression gets worse for some. SAD is typically characterized by a person wanting to sleep more than normal, withdrawing from social settings and weight gain. The symptoms return each year.
Bipolar disorder. Experiences extreme bouts of severe depression but also experiences extremely high or euphoric moods called mania.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. Severe form of premenstrual syndrome. Typically beginning a week or two before menses the disorder causes depression, anxiety and irritability. (2)
