 Useful Tips for Moms-to-Be
Follow these eight suggestions to ensure a healthy, safe pregnancy.
1. Drink lots of water. During your pregnancy, it is important to stay hydrated. We recommend that you
drink enough water throughout the day and night that the color of your urine is clear or pale yellow.
2. Nutrition. Healthy eating plays an important role in a healthy pregnancy. You need to eat foods from a variety of sources to make sure you get all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients you and your baby need. You should aim for three meals per day with healthy snacks in between.
Visit www.ChooseMyPlate.gov
to see how many servings of each food group you need each day.
3. Weight gain. When you are pregnant, you need to consume an extra 300 calories each day to stay healthy and help the fetus grow. If you maintain good eating habits during your pregnancy, you will return to your normal weight within a few months after giving birth. Combining healthy eating and exercise will help the process.
