Slips, Trips & Falls are not unique to any country or economic climate. The fact of the matter

is, the problem of slippery floors exists everywhere whether the floors are wet or dry.

The Occupational Health and Safety act of all countries makes provision for standards that all
employers have to adhere to. In sections of this act it clearly states that “every employer shall
provide & maintain, as far as reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and
without risk to the health of his employees” If this were properly adhered to, there would be

 More than 60% of people who die from falls are 75 and older (Murphy 2000).Of those
who fall, 20% to 30% suffer moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures or head
traumas that reduce mobility and independence, and increase the risk of premature death
(Sterling 2001).
 Falls are a leading cause of traumatic brain injuries (Jager 2000)
 Among older adults, the majority of fractures are caused by falls (Bell 2000).

 MOST, OR ALL, OF THESE INCIDENTS RESULT IN LAWSUITS AND INSURANCE
CLAIMS.
