In my opinion, Bartolommeo Dias and his expedition along the coast of
Africa were really important because he opened new trade routes to
Europe from Portugal to India and other parts of Asia, avoiding the
Middle East because of the difficulties.
I think that Vasco Da Gama voyages played an important role because
he continued and explored the routes Bartolommeo had sailed, going
around the South Point of the African continent, discovering a new sea
route to India in order to access to its wealth, making Portugal in one of
the riches countries in Europe (1497 – 1499).
