A MESSAGE FROM THE
              EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

   Dear Friends of Habitat,

Spring is a time for renewal and change in focus. This Spring at Habitat for Humani-
ty of North Idaho we're renewing our commitment to providing affordable housing
opportunities through changes in our program structure and focus. The single-
family housing market in Kootenai County is supercharged right now, and that
means many homes are reaching market prices that are out of reach for average
folks. Although our housing services are never going to be the solution to all hous-
ing needs, we know that we must provide more opportunities for our community.

We are now working to purchase larger lots in locations that are compatible with
multi-family development. Whether you call them town-homes, duplexes, triplexes,
or condos, multi-family structures provide more units in the same space. Shared
construction expenses can also lower the per-unit cost, and multi-family units
won't see the same large jumps in value that single-family homes are currently ex-
periencing. This creates a better recipe for success in the long-term, where it's
more likely that additional individuals can get their first step in home-ownership
buying these units in the future.

Keep an eye out for more information about our new program structure and focus,
we think it's a great way to protect the long-term investment from community
members like you who support Habitat. We thank you again for your support in the
past, and we hope that you'll continue to support Habitat for years to come.

   Regards,

   James Casper
   Executive Director
