P. 14
Employees with questions on this policy or issues related to drug or alcohol use in the workplace
should raise their concerns with their supervisor or the Director of Human Resources without
fear of reprisal.
Property Searches
MTR may provide you with desks and other storage devices for your convenience but these are always
the sole property of MTR. MTR reserves the right to use any lawful method of investigation it deems
necessary to determine whether any person has engaged in conduct that interferes with or adversely
affects business. A search does not imply an accusation of theft or that an employee has broken a
company rule.
Employees entering and leaving the facility are subject to questions and search at MTR's discretion.
Desks, personal possessions, and any car parked on company property are subject to search. This
policy applies to all employees. Failure to comply may result in termination of your employment.
Progressive Discipline
We believe that it is in the best interests of MTR to ensure fair treatment of all employees and make
certain that disciplinary actions are prompt, uniform, and impartial. The major purpose of any
disciplinary action is to correct the problem, prevent recurrence, and prepare the employee for
satisfactory performance in the future.
Disciplinary action may call for any of three steps -- verbal warning, written warning, final warning or
dismissal -- depending on the severity of the problem and the number of occurrences.
MTR recognizes that there are certain types of employee problems that are serious enough to justify
either a suspension, or, in extreme situations, termination of employment, without going through the
usual progressive discipline steps.
Business Ethics and Conduct
The successful business operation and reputation of MTR is built upon the principles of fair dealing and
ethical conduct of our employees. Our reputation for integrity and excellence requires careful
observance of the spirit and letter of all applicable laws and regulations, as well as a scrupulous regard
for the highest standards of conduct and personal integrity. We believe that open communication is
important and support this with an open door policy.
Additionally, MTR is dependent upon our customers trust and we are dedicated to preserving that trust.
Employees owe a duty to MTR, its customers, and shareholders to act in a way that will merit the
continued trust and confidence of the public.
MTR will comply with all applicable laws and regulations and expects its directors, officers, and
employees to conduct business in accordance with the letter, spirit, and intent of all relevant laws and
to refrain from any illegal, dishonest, or unethical conduct.
