Health
It is not possible to talk about the quality of health services available for youth without seeing
it within the context of the conflict.
77% believe that disabilities and physical injuries that resulted from the military operations are
the greatest problems from a health and personal wellbeing perspective., accompanied by a
lack of sufficient resources to deal with all of these injuries and disabilities that came as a result
of the Syrian conflict. It is estimated that this will cost the Syrian treasury a large amount of
spending to pay for prosthetic treatment and rehabilitation.
14% referred to malnutrition as one of the problems affecting the health of adolescents.
It is important to know that the largest number of those who referred to this figure were
forcibly displaced from places that have been besieged for a long time.
The survey showed a certain positivity in relation access to health care services. 82% of the
targeted population reported to have access to health care, which reflects the large efforts
made in regards to improving the health sector through health directorates with participation
of Syrian NGOs working in health sector> However, providing specialized services that meet
the overgrowing needs in a war zone area still remains a challenge. For example, although
25% of young people referred to psychological trauma as a threat to their mental and health
safety, the availability of psychological and psychosocial support services is still insufficient to
cover the need and requires more Investment in mental health projects among others.
