THANK YOUS
The Goolwa Cricket Club would like to sincerely thank all the players, members, supporters, families, parents
etc for their contributions of time, effort, & financial support this season. In particular thanks to the wives,
girlfriends, and families who have tolerated another season of groans, moans, late night homes, wasted
weekends, and the perennial "Just going down to the Cricket Club - I won't be long ".
Thanks to a sponsors this year particularly Revolution Roofing, Goolwa Hotel, Ryan Bridges (Harcourts),
Goolwa & South Coast Electrical (Kingsley Vincent), Darren Drake, Niso’s bricklaying, Tonkin’s Sports
Scene, Chum& Chris Lewis, Bob Ward, Gary Crouch, JPs Paint and Panel Supplies, Sportspower, Middelton
Store, Tim & Jess Stewart, Riverport Maintenance Services. The trophies are greatly appreciated by the players.
Special thanks to Critter who attended to a lot of details around the Club this year, cleaning, cooking, selling,
and helping behind bar. Similarly to Mick Algate for his work refreshing the bar stocks and organising players
and team selections. And also Danny who never failed to help out when needed. Thanks to Sonya and Laura for
helping out with the quiz night planning. Big thanks to Kingsley Vincent for his on and off field work as
President, dealing with the GSCA and other issues that arose. Also thanks to the guys who turned up at the
initial working bee. Thanks to the Senior captains Vic, Harry, Doc Gane and Mick who had to work hard to get
the teams on the park each week.
Thanks to others who helped with BBQ’s and feeding players on Saturday nights especially master chef Dylan
Jeffries. Also thanks to Jack and JAP for helping out with various jobs over the year, and to Carly for providing
afternoon teas and work behind the bar and trying to get Vic more organised.
Andy and Jack, Kingsley and Mick Pickett deserve special mention for their efforts this year with the U16’s and
U12s. Thanks also to the other parents who helped out with the juniors particularly Donna Haskell , Bronte
Carter and Eggy. Also to those players who helped umpire, score, pack up at practice, paid their subs and bar
tabs etc. Special thanks to Peter for his mowing / watering / marking of the oval.
Finally thanks to those players who committed themselves for this season, and stuck with it even in the games
where you got slogged, or got a duck or you didn't get to bat or bowl where you wanted etc, etc.
Thanks to the Colts players and young guns in their first season who sometimes played both morning and
afternoon. Thanks to those supporters and players who supported the bar and kept our finances ticking over.
Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped out at the club and donated their time to help the
players do their best on the field. There would be no Club without you and the Committee sincerely
thanks you.
Thank you to the Goolwa Cricket Club for providing an environment where young and old can develop their
cricket and other life skills, and where we can all enjoy the friendships, respect, and support of our team mates
and club members, past and present. Never underestimate what you learn from this game, from wins and losses,
winning Grand Finals and losing Grand Finals, ducks and hundreds, 6 fors and none for hundreds, and what
you can give back to the community through our Club.
It’s very easy to get disappointed by the losses and the failures that occur and feel you are always hard done
by or unlucky. Keep learning about the game, keep trying to improve, and the more you practice and prepare
the luckier you will get. When you are sure you prepared well and gave everything you could then you and the
club cannot ask for anything more and you should be satisfied that you genuinely did your best.
KEEP PRACTISING, PLANNING, PREPARING, PERSISTING, PLAYING IN THE V AND NEVER GIVE UP!
