6.  Dress and tighten the knot to complete the sheet
              bend.  The finished knot should look like the one shown
              in figure 23e.

            Note:  If you don’t follow these steps correctly, you’ll end
            up with the working end of both ropes on the opposite
            sides of the knot.  This will result in an incorrectly tied sheet
            bend which is more likely to slip than one that is tied cor-
            rectly.  When properly tied, the working ends will both be
            oriented towards the top of the knot.


            Possible Uses:
            If the rope you need to use isn’t long enough, you can use
            this knot to fasten two or more lengths of rope together.
              This is especially handy if you ever have to resort to scaveng-
            ing for rope and you don’t have the luxury of each piece of
            rope being the same type and diameter.
