CONDOLENCE MESSAGES

Real Guru. He was so painstaking, affectionate and encouraging. His lectures were a treat - very clear, relevant and probing. Did not meet him for decades, but always missed him. Miss him now even more.

Very sad to hear this. He was the senior teacher who took on much of the course work during our term there in the early-1980s. Still remember his classes very well and the number of times he ticked us off for not going through the prescribed readings.
He leaves good memories and many grateful students.

It is really a sad news although he has lived his life fully. The Indian economy will miss his sharp insight. Still remember his always smiling face.
May his soul rest in peace.

There are no words to describe our grief at the sad demise of Prof. Vidyanathan.
He took many of our classes in the early 80s and gave us our life long love for data and how to tell stories from it.
What is your research question? would be his exasperated exclamation to us!
We were lucky to meet him a number of times in Chennai before he moved in October 2016 and again in January 2017.
Never realized that would be our last meeting. We wish Mrs Vaidyanathan, Radhika and Rama the strength to bear this grief.
