BUFFALO GROVE POLICE DEPARTMENT
CAR SEAT PROGRAM
The Buffalo Grove Police Depart- ment currently has four officers who have attained a certification by the Nation Child Passenger Safety Program as child safety seat installation technicians. These officers have received over 30 hours of training on how to properly install child safety seats. In 2022, these officers installed 99 car seats for members of our community. This is a program we are very proud of and has become very popular with our residents.
In 2022, three more officers have signed up for training and will be getting certified in 2023, increas- ing our availability for installa- tions. Also, The Buffalo Grove Police Department has joined
with carseatcheckform.org to document each car seat instal- lation. This program is shared nationally amongst other partici- pating law enforcement agencies and allows any agency to see your installation information.
This year, the Buffalo Grove Police Department community relations unit and the traffic unit were able to obtain 5 new child safety seats thanks to our partnership with the child passenger safety resource center and Rush Copley medical center. These seats will be put
to good use allowing officers to safely transport children should the need arise when serving the community.
