HONOR GUARD
The Honor Guard is made up of elite Buffalo Grove
Police Department officers who serve as law enforcement ambassadors, promoting a positive and professional image to the public. They also work to keep the memory of fallen officers alive. The unit members receive special- ized training for various police and community events such as flag-raising ceremonies, parades, color guards, memorials, and funeral ceremonies for police officers.

During 2022, the Buffalo Grove Police Department Honor Guard participated in the following events:
› Represented fallen Illinois Police Officers who died in the line of duty over the past 12 months at a memorial event hosted by the Harper College LEJ program.
› Posted colors at the annual Northern Illinois K-9 Association memorial in Libertyville, IL.
› Paid tribute to fallen active and retired Illinois law enforcement officers at their funeral services:
› Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic
› Aurora Police Sergeant Kenneth Thurman
› Retired Round Lake Heights Chief of Police Donald “Gus” Johnson
› Retired Buffalo Grove Police Commander Robert Quid
