   SCULPTURES
Wyland has completed an iconic series of bronze sculptures to draw attention to the plight of some of the world’s most endangered and threatened species. Created from recycled bronze with hand-applied patinas, each work in this contemporary series is inspired by the minimalist tradition of Native American, Inuit, and African art. The highly anticipated series marks a departure from his predominantly ocean- themed art in his effort to promote a greater understanding of the importance of protecting global biodiversity on land and at sea.
“These are my first sculptures featuring animals outside the ocean realm,” Wyland said. “I wanted to expand my vision for conservation and art by creating a contemporary series of bronze sculptures that capture the spirit of these beautiful animals using simple forms and minimalist sculpting techniques. And I hope these sculptures will again cause people to think about the animals that are threatened each day by human activity, loss of habitat, pollution, and other human threats.”
...I’ve always felt that I was a better sculptor than painter...
