Module 3: Learning to Write Teacher’s Guide.
Objective: Introducing Zac the Grey Sheep
Lesson Plan:
With all the children sitting on the carpet in front of the teacher
1. Hold up a picture of Zac the Grey Sheep (poster).
2. “I would like to introduce you to Zac the Grey Sheep He is Rupert the
White Sheep’s cousin. He is the grey sheep. Zac the Grey Sheep is a
bit different as he likes to do unusualthings. Like Rupert the White Sheep he has letters that start with a short straight line, but his lines are a bit different. They are sloping or diagonal. Can anyone tell me what a diagonal line is?”
3. Allow the children to answer.
4. “Can you write a diagonal line on the board for me?”
5. Allow a child or children to have a go at writing a diagonal line.

6. Can we think of any letters that begin with a line like this?”
7. Allow the children to answer(e, x, v, w).
8. “That is right. Can anyone draw one for me on the board?”
9. Allow the children to answer.
10. “Let’s have a go at writing one of Zac the Grey Sheep’s letters.”

• Link together Rupert the White Sheep and Zac the Grey Sheep being from the
same sheep family, but they are different because Rupert the White Sheep likes vertical lines, while Zac the Grey Sheep likes diagonal and horizontal ones.
