Chorus
The choral program at Mill Creek is a place where every student can be successful. Through quality instruction
and amazing performances, students learn to be great choral singers, develop discipline and teamwork,
strengthen individual singing skills, and find a safe, fun place to grow and thrive. Any student is welcome in
Chorus! Beginners do not need to audition. Intermediate, Advanced and Mastery levels are by audition or
appointment only.
As chorus is co-curricular, students will perform in four concerts annually as part of assessment. Students will
also purchase a uniform for concerts. In addition to the annual chorus concerts, students may choose to
participate in extracurricular activities such as: Leadership Choral Council, Spectrum Show Choir, Honor
Chorus, All-State Chorus, All-State Reading Chorus, GHP-Voice, GHSA Literary Meet Competition Trio, Quartet,
and Soloists. In 2016, & 2017 our Literary team earned the title of State Champion with first place state wins in
Girls Solo, Men's Quartet, and Essay! Our Singing Hawks also have the opportunity to participate in annual
national competitions where we consistently earn Superior Ratings.
How to register: Make sure to number Chorus on
your registration form as one of your elective
choices.
We look forward to welcoming you to our chorus
family!
Orchestra
The Mill Creek Orchestra Program is an active and dynamic program. With five levels of programming, there is
a place for everyone to be successful and enjoy the excitement of performance! The orchestras consistently
receive Superior Ratings at GMEA’s Large Group Performance Evaluation event each year and have won
numerous national festival competitions. The orchestras travel each year as well, domestically or abroad, to
perform and compete. The orchestra program maintains gigging ensembles which perform at school events
and throughout the community. Our Viola and Cello Choirs meet to rehearse after school and are known
throughout the region for their special performances. The Orchestra Leadership Council is an opportunity for
all orchestra students to meet in an afterschool club to develop leadership skills, perform community service,
and enjoy social activities throughout the year. Ninth graders start their high school career in our freshman
Concert Orchestra. Here they continue their technical development in higher level skills, such as shifting and
vibrato and advanced bow technique. Sinfonia, Symphonic Orchestra, Advanced Philharmonic Orchestra, and
Mastery Chamber Ensemble are open to students by audition. Auditions are held each December for the
following year. Mrs. Tori Wilson, a violist, and Ms. Dana Ballard, a cellist, are the directors of the program.
How to register: Make sure to number Orchestra on your registration form
as one of your elective choices.
