FOREIGN LANGUAGE ELECTIVES

FRENCH
College Prep French 1, Gifted French 1: Through realistic use of the language, the student will learn to communicate in
oral and written form on a variety of everyday topics and will gain cultural knowledge of French-speaking countries.

College Prep French 2, Honors French 2, Gifted French 2*: Building on the background of French I, the student will
learn to interact in more complex situations, read more complicated materials, and write more extended messages.
Cultural understanding increases through reading and discussion of authentic documents.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of French 1 and teacher recommendation are required.

Honors French 3, Gifted French 3*: Students will learn to give detailed information, narrate events, read authentic texts,
and handle challenging situations in French. In addition, students will continue to develop a deeper understanding of the
cultures of French-speaking countries.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of French 2 and teacher recommendation are required.

AP French Language and Culture*: Develop speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills, as well as continue the
acquisition process of French cultures. This class is conducted in French. Students will complete college-level work in
the French language and follow the objects set forth in the College Board syllabus.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of French Level 1, 2, and 3 and teacher recommendation are required.

GERMAN
College Prep German 1: Through realistic use of the language, the student will learn to communicate in oral and written
form on a variety of everyday topics and will gain cultural knowledge of German-speaking countries.

College Prep German 2*: Building on the background of German I, students will learn to interact in more complex
situations, read more challenging materials, and write extended messages. Cultural understanding increases through

College Prep German 3*: Students will learn to give detailed information, narrate vents, read authentic texts, and handle
more challenging situations in German. Students will continue to develop a deeper understanding of the cultures of
German-speaking countries.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of German 2 and teacher recommendation are required.

College Prep German 4*: Students will refine their abilities and build vocabulary, allowing the student to converse in a
variety of situations as well as comprehend a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts. Cultural understanding remains an
important goal throughout the entire sequence of German language studies.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of German 3 and teacher recommendation are required.
