On Wednesday, June 4,
2025, GCU members
and guests met at the
flagpole outside the
Whitehall Borough
building for a patriotic
ceremony honoring
both Flag Day as well Karen Pavlick, Andy Quinn-retired Kennywood
as those in the military
Group enjoying buffet while listening to speaker. part owner and Forest Sears.
who gave their lives.
Whitehall Borough Mayor James Nowalk joined in the ceremony
and gave a brief speech. Following the ceremony,
everyone was invited inside the Whitehall Borough
community room for a summer buffet dinner. While
we were eating, we also played “Stump the Mayor.”
We could ask any mayoral question and the Mayor
would answer. This game was also played with the
Kennywood Park speaker. If you asked a question,
you received a number. At the end of the evening,
numbers were selected and those people chosen won a patriotic
gift. Andy Quinn, retired Kennywood part-owner, gave a wonderful
slide show presentation on the history of Kennywood Park. The
information was so interesting, and it was fun to see photos from
the past.
