Message from the Board Chair
Dear Phil family,
We are delighted to present Perfect Pairs! The concert pairs Susan Hagen,
former principal bassist of the Phil, with performing the Concerto for Amplified
Double Bass by the Spanish Bassist and Composer, Simón García, one of the
most interpreted and international composers of the current double bass scene.
In addition, it pairs siblings Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn with the Phil performing two wonderful
pieces by them; Fanny’s stunning Overture in C, which was hidden in a library for over 150 years
until being discovered and Felix’s Symphony No.3, Scottish that was inspired by his visit in the
early 1800’s to the palace where Mary, Queen of Scots had lived.
We hope you enjoy the change in venue this evening at the lovely Performing Arts Center of
Plymouth North High School. There is nothing better than a “road trip” every now and then!
Please sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
All the best,
Kevin R. Kiley, Board Chair
