The simplest gift options are:
Bequest in your will: “I bequeath $___ or ___% of my estate to the Plymouth
Philharmonic Orchestra, P.O. Box 3174, Plymouth MA 02361.”
Beneficiary designation: Name the Plymouth Philharmonic as the beneficiary
of your IRA, 401k, or life insurance policy. This is very simple and usually only
requires a few minutes of your time to complete your plan’s beneficiary
designation form.
The Phil also accepts stock transfers, a popular way
for you to make a charitable contribution and lower
your taxable gains; gifts from trusts; and some gifts of
personal property and real estate. If you have questions
about making a specific type of planned gift, please contact your financial planner
or the Phil, as gifts of these types tend to be carefully planned and individual.
If you are a donor over the age of 70 ½, you are eligible, and over the age of 72, you
may be required to make minimum withdrawals from qualified IRA plans. By gifting
some or all of this Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to the Phil, you may be
able to lower your taxable income AND make a significant impact for the Phil–a
win-win for everyone involved!
