Harnessing piezo technology for precise,
dynamic, control applications
As we come out of lockdown, now is the ideal time to consider piezo technology. Festo provides the know-how to
make the transition quick and easy, whether it’s supporting selection of standard products or the engineering of
custom solutions for your specialist volume requirements.
Over 140 years ago, the Curie brothers
published their finding that electrical
charges were generated on the deformation
Piezo element
of certain, special crystals. They later went
on to prove the theory that the reverse effect
also held. Applying a voltage causes a Cover plate
reversible, proportional deformation to these
crystals.
Since then, the effect has been utilised in
applications from sonar sound generators
and firelighters to today's sophisticated ink-
jet printing elements and fuel injection
valves.
Festo Piezo valves operate extremely fast
and repeatably, making them ideal pilot
devices in closed-loop flow and pressure Piezo crystal deforms
control valves. Their meagre power under voltage
consumption means they perform even using
only battery power.
