Kindergarten 2 News Letter

(1 st –11 th April,2019)

We are off to a great start in kingergarten 2 this year.We are amazed at the

progress each child has made as they transitioned from kindergarten 1.

We look forward to working with you

and your child during this exciting school year.

LITERACY

 Children were encouraged to read & write their own names
 Revision of upper case and lower case letters of the alphabet
letter sounds, and letter formation with many hands-on activities.

 Introduction of new stories and rhymes.
 Introduction of vowels &consonants

 Introduction of cvc words(‘a’ family words)

NUMERACY

 Sequence counting of numbers 0-20 with number values.
 Revision of 2D Shapes.

 Introduction of number line
 Introduction to numbers one more and one less

UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD

We spend last We spent the week , reviewing all of the class and
school rules and policies.
Children were encouraged to build our classroom community
as well as their own self esteem by different activities
(Taking turns to talk,Group activities,Creative activities)
Introduction to the topic ‘Different Stages of Life’-(Infant-Old age)
