GIHS HEALTH AND WELLNESS WEEK 2019

       K. P. Fabian served in the Indian Foreign Service from 1964 to 2000, with
his last posting as the Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative

to UN Organizations including FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization),
WFP (World Food Programme) and IFAD (International Fund for
Agricultural Development).Mr. Fabian is also a renowned writer and

speaker on international affairs having spoken at various universities in
Madagascar, Austria, Iran, Sri Lanka, Canada, Finland, Qatar and Italy.

Mr.KP Fabian started the session by telling that he feels privileged to
address the future leaders of the century and to share a few thoughts about
Civil service and Public Diplomacy. Mr. Fabian reflected on his

experiences in various countries and engaged in answering various
questions put across by the students.

The civil services exam is one of the most competitive exams in India. Mr.
Fabian asked why young people aspire to join the Indian Civil Services. The

tag IAS or IPS fetch respect and recognition but the main highlight is it is
an opportunity to serve the nation. In today’s world, the downtrodden are
treated in an unjust manner. To help them, one needs power and authority.

This drives youth to prepare for the Civil Services.
