The primary students of GIHS Grades 1-3 conducted English activities on 6 September
2018 which was conducted in their respective classrooms. The main objective of this program
was to develop an ever-improving capability to use English to think and communicate; to
acquire, develop and apply knowledge; to respond and give expression to experience; and
within these contexts, to develop and apply an ever-increasing understanding of how
language is organized, used and learned.

Grade 1 – Word Building

Few words were given to the children and they were asked to make as many words as possible
from that by rearranging letters. This was a challenge for children and they found it very

interesting. With great enthusiasm most of the children tried hard and made as many words
as possible. This enhanced the children to think creatively and to improve their vocabulary.

Grade 2 – Web a Tale

Web a Tale Activity has been conducted in the classroom. It was a continuing storytelling session

in which the story was begun and then left open-ended at a crucial point. One child begins a tale
and stops after a few sentences. The next one picks up the story thread and continues it, then
stops and so on until the tale comes to a resolution. It was a very interesting activity.
