Visit to the Mosque

As a part of developing global awareness and understanding of other cultures in
students and to explore and celebrate diversity in the school community GIHS
Kindergarten students were provided an opportunity of visiting a mosque.
On 1 and 2 nd May 2019, Kindergarten students visited two mosques Al Garhoud

mosque and Al Farooq Mosque. They got the opportunity to listen to Islamic lecture. In
Al Garhoud mosque children got the opportunity to meet the Imam and had the
experience of interacting with him.
The lecture gave a brief description about Islamic and UAE culture. The lecturer
explained and demonstrated about the construction of the masjid, the way how the
guests are treated and the traditional way coffee is served, the way Muslims pray, the
different types of Kandura of different Gulf countries. After the session, children were
permitted to tour the masjid as well as the library.
