Cobh GAA Long Puck 2018
A wonderful day was had as the rain held off for the annual St. Stephens Day charity Long
Puck. This year the event was held in aid of John Kennedy, who after an accident at home is
paralysed from the waist down. John is currently recovering in Cork University Hospital after
which he will have to spend an extended period of time in the National Rehabilitation Hospital
in Dublin. Thanks to John’s brother and sister, Paul and Ciara, for accepting a cheque for €1500
from Chairman John Spriggs on behalf of John.
Thanks also to the Leahy Family including Laura Fitzgerald, granddaughter of Seamas Ó
Riordáin for presenting the prizes including winners shield which is named in memory of
Seamas. Well done to all our winners including overall winners Paul Murphy and his sons
Lee and Paul, juvenile winners Ben Murphy, Timmy Wilk and Eoin Cullimore, Family Winners
Johnny Leahy and family and our Camogie winners Mari & Elaine Moynihan, Erica Field, Aoife
Hart, Sorcha McKeown and Aoife Richardson A big thanks also to our musicians Sean Damery,
Ellen O’Regan and Niall Spriggs who provided fantastic music before Jamie Stanton took over.
Thanks also to our raffle sponsors Butlers Buses, Eamonn Crotty of Acorn Life, Cobh Camogie
and the Club Shop for providing fantastic prizes. Finally thanks to all who participated in mak-
ing the day a great success for a great cause.

Cruise News with Jackie Coakley
JMG Cruises hosted a number of Travel agents including myself
in the Watersedge Hotel in Cobh to announce their exciting
programme of Cruises sailing directly from Cobh, Ringaskiddy
and Dublin in 2019 and 2020. After the huge success of the
sailings in 2018 and the great feedback I have had from my
many customers who have already travelled, it is such great
news and something I have been personally asking for for
many years.
Although there are only a few sailings from Cobh in 2019,
there are many more from Dublin but 2020 is going to be the
year to get on a Cruise ship in Cobh with some amazing desti-
nations.
The CMV ships are smaller Cruise ships and although will not
be to everyones taste they are perfect for first time Cruisers or for people who don’t like to fly.
They are 3*plus ships and offer great service and food along with good entertainment. I have
been on these ships myself and have been nicely surprised about the interior and public areas
so they will not disappoint. I feel these are going to be very popular so I would recommend
booking early. We can offer an easy-pay plan in East Cork Travel so you can start planning that
anniversary, birthday or family get together
