Result: Cobh Wanderers 0-0 Rockmount
Wanderers and Rockmount played out a scoreless draw at Old Church Park today
to keep a four point gap between the sides in the table with Rockmount having two
games in hand. Wanderers had the better of the chances in the game with the first
falling to Jordan Tarrant-Lowry who took a superb pass from Eoin Hastings in his
stride but saw his shot smothered by O’ Connell in the Rockmount goal. In first half
injury time a corner by Abbott was well won by Fitzy at the back post. His header
back across goal fell to Eoin Hastings but he snatched at the chance and put his ef-
fort well over the bar.
The closest either team came to scoring came in the 56th minute when Jason Ab-
bott hit a super free kick off the crossbar with the keeper rooted to the line. Wan-
derers had to be resolute in defence especially in the second half when Rockmount
pushed forward for a winner. Cian O’ Connor was the best performer for Wanderers
on the day as he gave the visiting defense a torrid time throughout with a tireless
and skillful display.
