Baez started his career in broadcasting on the radio while a college student
in Ohio! Residing in Fayetteville as a radio announcer during the 80s, and after
having an impact on the radio, a few years later, he migrated to television. To-
day, he has caught the attention of our Mayor Mitch Colvin. The result of making

a difference in the Fayetteville community is the honor of accepting the Key to
the City from Mayor Mitch Colvin. Mayor Colvin added he was appreciative of
all that Gilbert Baez has accomplished.

Gilbert Baez, a former Army communications officer, spoke about his time in
the military; Baez also shared his experiences and background as a television
news reporter and a seasoned radio personality. Mayor Colvin wished Baez the
best in his next chapter.

Gilbert Baez, who was initially surprised by the mayor’s gesture, gracefully
accepted the key. Mr. Baez was singled out due to his unselfishness and commit-
ment of giving back and having an unforgettable impact on the communities he’s

frequented.
