6.1.1 ON-BOARD VISITING DRIVERS
Overall cruise Duty & Tax Free retail visiting is driven by the on-board channel, with 84% of those visiting a service browsing stores on-board the cruise liner. However, improvements can still be made to further increase store visiting among those aware of the service.
Our research highlights the following three factors as being key to driving visiting among those browsing the on-board Duty / Tax Free offer. Store operators should therefore prioritise these areas when assessing strategies to increase on-board visiting in the European region:
 To browse and maybe buy something;
 To pass the time; and
 To take advantage of good prices.
Other leading drivers of visiting the on-board offering include: to look for good promotional offers, it’s what the passenger always do when they travel and to treat themselves.
