Despite the negative associations they received in the past, comics are fast becoming the medium of creativity. They also provide outlets for comic writers and illustrators to express their opinions and feelings regarding certain issues. Asia Comic Cultural Museum is a museum set up by the Penang state government in 2016 to promote Asian and Southeast Asian comics to the world. Visitors are able to view the materials that a comic illustrator uses to create the comics that are in the market and the various comics that are on display. The museum has 9 exhibition halls and visitors are encouraged to collect 9 stamps in exchange for a free gift. Some of the highlights in the museum include a zone dedicated to the works published by controversial local comic artist Zunar and a huge exhibition hall dedicated to comics from Hong Kong. The museum also holds comics-related exhibitions and events from time to time and do not forget to buy rare comics before you leave the museum shop.
